WOYWW 418

Hello there, Sorry I was missing in action last week . especially after the ATC swap. I still have two to send but that's because I was waiting for a couple of addresses , I think I got the others out  pretty promptly for me :-)
I still need to photograph all my lovely swaps - it;s been a very busy, etc time. More at the end as I know you have come to see my work space.
I have been trying to get ready for my next class - this Saturday , although now I only have three coming. Others are coming next week on Thursday evening :-)

As you may realise I am also a Stampin Up demonstrator . My Upline, a lovely lady named Julie Wade was devastated by events in Manchester. She really wanted to do something, 'to make a difference' she invited as many as wanted to, and who were part of the team known as Julie's Jems ( Julie Kettlewell)  to make cards to send to all Doctors, Nurses and Emergency Services who were involved with the aftermath of Manchester, to thank them for all they did. She did a lot of research etc and we sent almost 1000 cards to Manchester.

Then of course we heard on Saturday evening/ Sunday morning of the dreadful events in London. Julie again invited as many of the team who were able to make cards to send to all those involved in aftermath of the London atrocities.

I could only commit to 20 cards for each these are the ones I made  for Manchester

I will show you the London ones next week.

My work area tonight ( Tuesday ) it will not change until tomorrow pm.

You can't see the exact spot I work in as the cards for London are there and I don't want to show those until they have been received.

I will endeavour to visit as many desks as I can. I am sorry that there are some I can't leave comments on as they are Google+ and I don't want to go that route. I will leave a reply in the comments though. Please if you don't know what WOYWW is then please pop over to Julia's Blog and discover more, you won't be sorry.

I have had a lot going on re my mum. She is quite well really, considering what is wrong with her. There are issues re what care etc she will need in the future. Also issues re where she lives and how that is affecting us all. Last week my brother and I arranged for mum to visit a Reitrement Apartment here in Birmingham ( mum is in Somerset) this Monday. I went down to visit last Thursday, my brother was going to join me on Saturday and we hoped to bring her back. Anyway she wouldn't come. made all sorts of excuses - even though she has said it was what she wanted. So I had to come back and leave her. one of my sisters does live near her. Mum has a bungalow where she lives but has been spending a little time in a Care Home , she has a week left there. The situation is not straight forward or easy to deal with but I don't really want to go into it all.
It was very hard leaving on Sunday, especially as it was the anniversary of my dad's death. Anyway suffice to say that last week was not the easiest.  one of the reasons I didn't make it here.
hopefully back next week.

  2. Bless you - what a time you have had - we are thinking of you and know just how hard it is to live far away and have to leave your lovely Mum. I was lucky as I knew I was leaving mine in the best hands with Annie there to care but it was always so sad to drive away down that motorway. What lovely cards you made Anne. Sharing our crafty love around the globe is one of our best times - so many clever crafters out there and all made with that same love - we need to spread it round the globe ever more so.xx Jo

  3. Your cards for Manchester are fabulous. So nice of you to send them. Very thoughtful.

Sorry to read about your mother. It often happens when the elderly SAY they are willing to move into a care facility, but when the time comes, the excuses start flying. I've seen some of my friends go through that with their parents, so I understand what you are going through. I also can't leave messages to those on G+. Happy WOYWW from #5.

  4. Happy WOYWW. How wonderful to make cards for the incredible emergency crews in Manchester and London. I love Stampin'Up - only been to one craft day here in Pembrokeshire, and not even sure if that lady is still involved, but better to avoid until I have my credit card paid off !! Sorry to hear you have problems to sort out with your mum's care. I worry for the future, as me and my 2 sisters all live scattered around the UK and nowhere near my mum. She is fine and probably fitter than me right now, but it is a worry for the future. Ali x #29

  5. Hi Anne, before I forget, your ATC arrived last week and it's on last weeks blog post but think I will do a biggy photo when I finally have them all. It's difficult I know with your mum. We have always had to live away from the family homes and visiting has never been easy but I am in a position now to be able to take my mum out at least once a week though it's still quite a drive. My dad's pleased because he gets a day on his own... I don't ask what he gets up to but I know he likes the rest Lol! Your cards are lovely and it's very thoughtful, I'm sure it will be much appreciated too. Happy woyww, Angela x14x

  6. Hi Anne, what a lovely thing your upline thought of. So often the ones who have to deal with these things are the forgotten heroes. Will be going to the PO with your package tomorrow, got rid of most of my cold now, I think. Have a lovely week, Hugs, Shaz #6 XxX

  7. What a lovely idea to make all those cards as a group. My sisters both work in the NHS (although neither in Manchester) and I'm sure that gesture was very much appreciated. Hope things regarding your mum are resolved soon, it must be a most difficult time for you. Hugs, Sarah #8

    1. Hello Sarah. Thanks for your kind comments. My son and D.I.L. work in NHS as well and thought it was a lovely gesture they are not in Manchester but very nearby.

  8. I'm sorry to hear that things are complicated about moving your mum where it is closer and more convenient, Anne. I know you've been dealing with this for a long time and I hope it gets resolved soon for you. Thank you so much for making all those incredibly beautiful thank you cards for the care givers in Manchester and London. We can only imagine how much this will mean to them as they normally go about their jobs of saving lives and comforting others without a lot of thanks. You're an angel!! Hugs, Darnell

  9. My MIL lives in a bungalow quite near to us... she has decided that there she will stay until her dying day. I am glad she still wants to be independent (stubborn, bloody-minded lol) but do worry about the future and how she will cope - how WE will all cope too. BUT... I understand she wants to remain in a place she knows and where she has spent the majority of her life. It must be difficult for you and your family - and I do hope you can all come to a decision that works for all of you soon.
Your cards are beautiful - such a heartfelt and considerate act.

  10. What lovely cards - and what a lovely gesture. Bet all those cards made such a huge impact on the recipients.
Re your mum - I was there a few years ago with an aunt in law. Very difficult. Heartbreaking at times but don't give up, you will get there and you will know she is being looked after when it is all in place Focus on knowing you are doing what is best for her.
Hugs & Thanks for visiting me earlier - Neet xx 10

  11. I have a friend who is going through much the same as you with her 96 year old mother. They so want everything to stay the same, and we can't blame them after all, but sadly, it has to be done. Good luck with sorting out your Mum in the best way that you can. Your cards for Manchester are beautiful, and I'm sure they were appreciated. Hopefully you won't need to be making more after the London cards. Thanks for sharing, Lindart #41

  12. that is awesome! I know from experience that the nurses, doctors, ems folks will love being thought of. This past month has held all sorts of horrors. I got really peeved at our worthless president making his comments! Beautiful cards! Hope you have a great week! Vickie #43

  13. How big hearted and generous of you, with all the other things you have going on, the cards are such a lovely idea, and I thank you for doing them - you definitely speak for me in thanking the emergency services.
Am very sorry about the situation with your Mum, it's just so hard....been through the 'I will but I wont really' with my seniors. Ended up in dealing out a 'tough love' solution and it was hard hard hard. Sending you strength.xx

  14. The cards you made are so pretty and what a great thing to do. I feel for you about your mom's situation. It's so hard to "take care of our parents". I've had a similar experience with my mom after my dad's death and it's been hard on all of us. Sending good thoughts your way. Dorlene #42

  17. I'm so sorry for the awful things that have happened there recently. I will never understand what is in the minds of those horrible people who commit mass murders. Never. Very kind of you to make the cards for those who help those hurt. Sorry about your mum not moving closer to you. I truly do know what you're going through. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  18. Fabulous post,
Sorry for the delay in commenting, laptop trouble. It's died on me and I'm in a bit of a flap.
On a positive note, my Dear Husband plans to buy a replacement for me.

  19. This season of your life is so full, Anne, and more stressful due to the attacks in your country. It is wonderful that you and others are making the effort to express caring and love to those who have been harmed. I'm praying that your mom's care will be sorted out soon and am thinking of you with love as you figure out your part in the process [which I went through with my folks as well years ago]. Wishing you joy in your creative efforts! 🤗
