WOYWW 1st January 2020

Hello fellow deskers. Just wanted to pop on say
Happy New Year

I did a little crafting yesterday- made some bags for treats for my sister's grandchildren who have had a difficult few months. I am in process of sorting and cleaning the room!

The bags - filled with chocolate

Cheers- a cheeky pink gin!

We are going to enjoy a Chinese Takeaway and a drop of Prosecco :-)
Our sons and their families are celebrating together , in Yorkshire this year. Love that they all get together and get on! Matthew the eldest is On Call  tomorrow so no partying as  such but I'm sure they are having fun!

I hope you all have/ have had a lovely evening and I wish you all the very best for 2020.
Special thoughts to all in Australia. X

  1. Happy New Year. It has been a new year here in Oz for over 13 hours now. Stayed up to watch the N.Y. Fireworks over the Sydney Harbour Bridge which is always a lovely sight. Thanks for your special thoughts. This summer is horrendous with heat and bushfires. I can't get my head around how many homes have been lost since November when it all started with a bang. New Year's Eve will always be remembered. We can't believe the photos - day turned into night with daylight black or fiery red - an asthmatics nightmare. The wild animals that have died...... Small communities near the sea forced to run with their few possessions and hide in boats or in the water so that they are not killed by the radiant heat of the bushfires. Small colonial villages which have remained from our earliest times - just wiped out - how can they be rebuilt? Young men - expectant fathers volunteering to fight fires but never coming home because the force of the fires tipped up the fire fighting trucks they were travelling in and they were killed. So many people dead from staying to fight fires...... Add to that the worst drought in our country's memory and you have a picture of our country at the moment. Everyday people forced to give money to help feed and water starving stock - the lucky ones which have not been sent to slaughter - whilst all that the government offers is a loan. How can the farmers pay it back when their livelihood is gone through drought and now fire? Our government gives so much to overseas needs but can't see the needs in Oz when farmers are suiciding every week. I'm not sure if it will be a good year for us, but despite that I hope that you have a happy new year.

  4. Hi there Anne,
I love the fact you’re tidying sorting, hope I make more headway tomorrow as didn’t get back to it today did other jobs instead! Ah well. Can’t be helped.
Beautiful gift bags and glad with you that your family are enjoying time together. Yes Oz need much prayer. It’s been heartbreaking.
However worst Aust drought was in 1896 when 437 died with heat stroke on east coast of NSW with temps of 50+c and in 2009 in Victoria alone 167 people died in most severe fires in our history.

People ... and most of all the press have short memories.
That being said it incredibly sad and I have wept looking at the devastation and reading of brave souls gone and pray and plead much and often for our nation...
And I prayed for your nation, too, and others as I prayed in the New Year, there is something special about praying in new year, conversation with nearest and dearest Friend about those who are near and dear to me.
Happy WOYWW. Thanks for being a blessing, and may God bless you too, especially good health in 2020.
    Hugs, Shaz in Oz.x #2 kinda! 😊
