Hope that everyone had a wonderful day on Christmas Day. DH and I certainly did. We spent the day with our younger son this year at his home. We had a wonderful, traditional lunch, had lovely presents and lots of fun playing with our beautiful granddaughters. We also spoke to our eldest son and family and saw them via Skype. They have been celebrating with a Christmas dinner today as my DIL had to work ( she is a nurse) We will be catching up with them at the end of the week and exchanging presents and cousins getting together. All good fun. Today we popped to see my aunt and then went back to my son's house for lunch with my DIL's parents as well. Girls were very excited that they had both sets of grandparents to spoil them!!! We came home at teatime so that the girls could calm down and go to bed and DIL and son could have a few hours to relax together.
No photo of my desk or dining table I'm afraid. I was crafting up until last minute finishing DH's card!! Got there in the end have promised that I will make my cards a lot earlier next year!!!!!
I finally got my cake finished on Christmas Eve- as you can see it was completed very quickly - very rustic! I added some snowflakes and sparkle - it looked pretty.
I was going to take flowers to put on my dad's grave. Then mum said she'd asked my brother to put the flowers on and he always takes the wreathes so I just made this very simple spray to put on when I went. There are some cones on as well but you can only see the one.
DH at my son's helping with preparations.
DS doing a spot of washing up.
My very dear DIL Sarah overseeing proceedings.
I may be a little late visiting with other desks but will do my best. Annex
It looks like you had a wonderful family time. Happy Boxing Day and Happy Wednesday, too.

Dear Anne, thanks for sharing photos of your day. When I saw the photo of your husband I got a giggle as it looks like he has a red ribbon on his head. :-)

Great looking Christmas cake. I did absolutely no baking!!! I know lazy layabout but I did make Swedish Fruit Soup and other stuff to take to DD and SIL for dinner yesterday. Had a great day visiting with them and DS and DIL Skyped with the grandbabies to wish us a happy day! Hope you are having a great holiday week and Happy New Year! Thanks for stopping by and visiting my desk at this busy time of year but like you I couldn't miss the last WOYWW of the year! Vickie #4

Hi Anne! A blessed Christmas to you! What in the world is on top of your husband's head! Looks like a bow! That cake looks divine! I have been making snowflakes for my gift wrap. I only recently learned that snow really falls down in those fascinatingly unique configurations! My brother recently came from a trip to Mongolia and he was taking pictures of snowflakes to show us! What a lovely cake. I always go for a snow scene so I don't have to try to make the icing smooth! It looks as if you had a great time. Happy new year when it comes,

ReplyDeleteI have so enjoyed your Christmas Family gathering, I forgot to make egg nog this year and they wont let me live it down. I so love your cake, different with the snowflakes on it, but I live in Sunny Australia and snow just does not fit at Christmas time.
