WOYWW 156

It's Wenesday again and time to share our desks with other crafters and WOYWW'ers  all over the world. It's also avery special WOYWW as it is the third Anniversary of the first WOYWW. If you still haven't a clue what I am knattering on about well pop over to Julia's - just click on the button at bottom of my blog and join in the fun.

My desk is not really very interesting this week really
The little box is still there awaiting completion. To the left you can see the bottom edge of a card I am making.

Second half you can see paper and card etc I need to finish making two cards and the box.

So for this week that's it for me. Be back soon.

What amazing weather we have been having and I've managed to spend a lot of time outside - hurrayyyy!!!! Since my last post I went to Knitting group and made one of the members day's. She had got a pattern from the 1980's. The recommended yarn was discontinued and when I contacted the firm who made it (still in business) they said there was no substitute. So I then scoured Ravelry and Ebay. Finally managed to get some via Ebay. She was so pleased. She came to the group when we started in Jan and could not knit- since than she has made eight tops for herself, her daughter and granddaughter and also four outfits for 'the Fish and Chip ' babies. She has little confidence and I 'm pleased she is finding knitting and being in the group as helped her enormously.
On Friday we went shopping - not my favourite task but needed to as had family here for the weekend. my eldest son and grandsons arrived late Friday evening ( their mummy, DIL Carolynn was not able to make it this time). On Sat morn DH and DS went to Nottingham where Matthew - my son competed in a triathlon. Pleased to say he completed all three elements and was pleased with his time. In July he will be taking part in an Olympic style triathlon - not the Olympics but covering the same distance which are twice the lengths he did yesterday. He is doing it for the psoriasis society as his wife Carolynn has it and their son, my grandson Sam has been diagnosed with it this year.

Don't know who the couple are but Matthew, my son is one of the 'yellow hats' swimming in the lake. This is the first stage of the triathlon.

The second stage is the bike ride. This is Matthew with his bike - before he actually started the race.

And finally the third stage- the run and here is Matthew coming towards the end. Well done Matthew we are proud of you and know you will complete 'the Olympic' distances for Carolynn and Sam.

On Saturday morning while DS and DH were in Nottingham I took my grandsons to my younger son's house where they played with their cousins , my granddaughters. Sarah my DIL also did us a lovely lunch. Today they all came to us and I did barbie food in oven but we ate outside - I get a bit anxious about the BBQ when the children are running around as ours is not a large garden. We all had a wonderful time and the children were so sweet with each other. Lots of wonderful memories to look back on . Hope you had a memorable weekend as well.

WOYWW 155

Until this afternoon my desk looked exactly the same as last weeks photo.I have had a tidy up in the hope of making cards tomorrow. These weeks are just flying by!! I have not done any paper crafting since last week. On Wednesday last week we went to Leeds to see my eldest son and family. On Thursday evening my D.I.L. and I went out on Thursday evening. We first had lunch at a pub in the village aand then went to Yeadon Town Hall to watch The Full Monty- it was brilliant have not laughed so much for ages.
On Friday DH and I took the boys to school and collected them at 3.30 as my D.I.L. was at work. I managed to do quite a bit of knitting that day (as wll as to and from Leeds) so am ppeased with that.
We came home on Saturday as I went to The Cake Show at Telford on Sunday. Had a lovely day there with other ladies from the Sugarcraft Class I go to. I bought a few new goodies.
Yestrdayafternoon we had Ella my GD and then again this afternoon. She made a card for her sister who has a rash. She is ok but Ella asked to makee her a card and was so proud of it. I forgot to tke a photo.

Anyway to my desk - if you are looking in and have no idea why I am talking about and showing you my desk then lick on the WOYWW button at bottom of my blog.

Above you an see cards, ribbons and a box I have been experimenting with. to the right are some new stamps I bought last week from where I go to cadmaking classes. The ribbons I bought at the cake show.

To the right of my desk the ribbons again, some little boxes I want to have a play with, some more stamps and some papers. The gorgeous little fellow at the back is my grandson when he was a baby - he is nearly seven now. Thanks for looking - I am going to try to get on the list a bit soner than usual.

PS I am going to add some photos of some of the cakes/ exhibits from the cake show. Everything is made form cake/ sugar in some form or another. Amazing creations - I don't know if I am inspired or should give up. ( PLEASE NOTE NOT MY WORK )

WOYWW 154

Another Wednesday has arrived which means it's time to show you my rather messy desk this week and for me to go and have a nose at other desks around the world, and be full of awe at the talent out there.

The only crafting I've done since last week has been knitting - for 'Fish and Chip' babies and the two cards I made at the workshop. These are not my designs but the lovely Gail's who ran this week's class! If you want to see other desks - a lot more interesting than mine is then click on WOYWW button at bottom of my blog and join in the fun!!!

Above the outside view of card from the class (not my design) I didn't get round to putting on the 21 on the front and some hinges and a key - will put it on again when completed.

The inside- a few bits to add on yet.

The second card from class  completed but a few errors - can you spot them?

The inside of second card.

On the right hand side of my desk. There are a pile of papers, bits from magazines I want to keep etc waiting to be put away. There's one of my boxes of ribbons a few bits of ribbon and a carrier bag that did have a lot of ribbon in waiting to go away. Nearly finished putting ribbon back - just need to think of some way to use up the little bits that are left as I hate throwing anything away.

Happy WOYWW see you soon. Anne x

WOYWW 153

I find it quite scary how quickly these Wednesdays come around!!!! There are just not enough hours in the day for me, there are so many things I need to do, want to do and I just can't fit it all in. Yesterday was a good day. I went to Sugarcraft in the morning and was making orchids - photos when all finished. In the afternoon we looked after our eldest GD as usual - she is very entertaining- she couldn't stop laughing at one point and said 'Have I got a wicked laugh? ' she is only four !!! Love her so much as I do all my grandchildren they are adorable!!!
Today it has rained for the most part. Had comfort food for dinner- I am never going to be thinner- I despair.
Anyway enough of that here is the desk ( and you don't know what I am on about ( and many say they don't ) click on button at bottom of my blog.

There has not been a lot of activity since last week as I was away again at the weekend - see previous post. I managed to make three very simple thankyou cards this afternoon.

You can see drawers at side plus one under magazine these hold some of my stamps. Some ribbon from Stampin Up! bits of card and paper that needs putting away. White bag has some glitter paper for a project I am working on. Black bag has some of my tools.

Other side coloured basket has all sorts of bits and pieces waitng for a more permanent home. A bow maker, sticky stuff, ink pads, baby wipes and my spotty caddy.

Here's one of the cards I made. Other two are the same.

It's a bit bright but you an get the idea. Patterned paper, coloured card and ribbon are all Stamin' Up! I really must make a better note of what I use- I'm hopeless at remembering what colours and patterns I've
used.

Am off to try and visit a few more desks than usual. Happy WOYWW and thanks for looking. Anne x

Blog Candy

but not from me.

Joanna at Under a Creative spell is celebrating her 2nd Blogaversary. Pop along and have a look at her Blog, she is a very talented lady. Click on photo on sidebar.
I have had a lovely time away visiting my friend who lives in Witney in Oxfordshire. We set off on Friday after lunch. Thankfully the weather was lovely. After leaving the motorway we travelled through stow on the wold and Burford.
Judy (my friend) and I have been friends since we were 7years old. She arrived at school one day and the teacher put her next to me. Although her parents moved from Birmingham (where we me) to Oxford we wrote to each other and met again when we were 15. Since then we have met many times over the years. Judy is now more a member of our family . She was at my wedding(she never married) and all major events in our family and us in hers. We have now been friends for 54 years!!! At our 50th Anniversary we went away for a couple of days to celebrate, went to a spa and lots of lovely relaxing treatments etc.

We were unable to get together for Christmas  and even though we arrraned two dates just afterwards the weather put paid to our plans.
We finally got to exchange christmas presents and to celebrate Judy's semi retirement at the end of March. On Sunday we had  'Christmas lunch' . My DH took the one and only photo of us together and I don't like it very much so am not going to post it- sorry. Have found a few pictures of Witney, Stow and Burford - such a beautiful part of the country. Hope you have all had a lovely holiday weekend. Anne x

WOYWW 152

Hello again, it's Wednesday again which means a hop around the world having a nosey at other folks desks and crafty things. If you want to join in then pop over to Julia's desk. Click onto button at end of my blog.

My week has sped by so quickly I've not made it onto my blog since last week. I 'll put more about what I've been up to along with photos when I've shown my desk. Doing that first so you don't need to go all through post to find it if you are in a hurry.

To be honest there is just a jumble of things. I had 5 cards to make by the end of last week and very little time. I did use the bug on three of them and the sticky tape you can see. The coloures basket at the back has all sorts of bits and pieces and I think I was looking for something I thought I'd dropped in there.

More tape. scissors, cutter, tools and at the front to the side a gift box I am playing with for a future project.

Some cards - well a gift bag first - not sure if I've already posted this or another version of it. It's made from a 12 x 12 piece of card/paper - this one is Indigo from Stampin Up. Beads from the lots I have in my collection, little tag from Stampin Up punch flowers from punches I have - can't remember exactly which.

The one above was for my son who had a birthday on Sat 28th April. I used idea from SU catalogue.

Oooooppps thought I'd flipped that round- this one is for my nephew who has a birthday on Friday.

The above is for a lady on a forum where we send b'day cards to each other. I've used SU card - indigo, the border along middle is a Memory Box die. SU tag . The colours are not showing so wel. It is brighter and sparklier in real life . There are stickles on the flowers and glittery butterflies.

Hope you like them.

As I said Saturday was my younger son's birthday. We went with him and our DIL and granddaughters to Ironbridge  and in particular the Enginuity Museum.  The girls loved it.

We had an indoor picnic and my DIL had made a cake and lit a candle and we sang happy birthday much to the amusement of other visitors. My granddaughter wanted to know why Daddy only had 1 candle on his cake.

When we left the Museum we went into town and the girls and I had an icecream even though it was cold but at least not raining.

We sat near the famous Iron Bridge eating our icecreams. The river was swollen, fast flowing and very brown.

I took several photos but can only show a few as my granddaughters are on others and DS doesn't like them on internet.

How would you have liked to have to do your washing in this?

There were several displays like the one below wwhere you could scan an exhibit and then there was an explanation on a screen. My youngest GD loved scanning.

Below some more exhibits that were hands on and the girls loved turning, pushing, feeding, sorting etc etc -Science mad fun!!!

Below the bridge and the swollen river.

I would have liked to get inside here but it was closed.

The icecream shop - yummy ice cream shame the day was so cold.

Well that was just a taste of what we saw and there is a lot more we could have looked at but you would need more than a day.

On at eve we babysat so that DS and DIL could go out for a meal. DS and DIL asked us to dinner on Sun eve with D. I .L's parents to celebrate DH's birthday on Monday. My DIL had made a lovely blackforest gateau. So a great weekend.
 See you soon. Anne x

Popping by again

Just popping by to say hello. Not a lot to report really.  I had a table, with a friend at a Craft fair at a local church. We got our table...
