WOYWW 479

Sorry a little photo heavy.

Hi there, I'm back. Couldn't quite manage to put in an appearance last week.

I wasn't too sure I'd manage this week as we are in the middle of having our windows replaced and I felt so tired earlier but have rallied a little :-) - I haven't been sleeping and getting up to be ready for the fitters to arrive at 8 a.m. They only seem to work half a day though - maybe the heat I'm not sure. Today was difficult for them- an awkward window and difficult to get at part of it.

There is part of a wall between the three to the left and the one on the right. Hard to explain, maybe I should photograph the other side - hold that thought.

From the inside - the three
There is a little door to access for cleaning

Then on the other side of the wall / door is the fourth window along.

It caused a few problems as I said. I will be glad when it is all done - we were in two minds about what to do , they were metal frames in excellent wooden frames and we had looked after them. However they were not doubled glazed and we were so cold last winter. Have to admit that they do make the rooms brighter. I'm getting myself geared up to the big one tomorrow - the lounge!!

Anyway I digress- sorry Julia - my craft area/aka dining room is in a right state as we moved stuff in there - there is already a double glazed window in there, apart from having one of the sealed units replaced it is not being touched- only room that's not.

I am working on altering a wooden box. Hopefully share next time.

So much stuff around :-(

On Saturday 28th July I did my Crafternoon Tea - my friend hosted for me as I was in a bit of a muddle preparing for windows

It was a lovely afternoon, nine ladies and me! :-)

Goody bags in place ready to start!

 Working away!

The lady below in pink hosted for me and did the food.

We made a card, stamped on two tiles to use as coasters and made a box for the coasters.

So if you would like to see what other crafters have been up to then join in WOYWW - started by Julia
Last week we had our grandsons from Tuesday until Friday. Met our D.I.L. half way to collect the boys and then our son to hand them back. We had a super time. Spent a lot of it with our granddaughters, our other D.I.L. and our younger son. There was a trip to the local Arboretum, the golf club range, pub for tea, playing at girls home, swimming and pizza at ours. It was a great , fun filled time and lots of lovely memories made.

A picnic

Playing on the Pirate 'ship'

Three of the children practising their swing etc :-)

Phoebe was practising getting out the bunker!

And now the windows - :-) no time to get bored!!!

Sorry it's so long.

  1. Hi Anne! Goodness.. lots going on with you and your family and also your friends and classes. You must be very good to continue to draw so many participants! I wish I could join in but you're so far away. I'm still in Ohio with my 3 girls.. 2 more sleeps and I'll be flying home with one stop, hopefully I'll make the connecting flight.. I missed the last one! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  3. Your windows look lovely and the awkward one is explained so well in your photos that it is fully understandable. It must be so disruptive having them all replaced at once, just hope they do not make too much mess for you to clean up. Perhaps they are cleaning up themselves?
What a lovely friend you have to host your craftathon for you. Beautiful makes and the table of food looks wonderful, so beautifully set out. She must have a large house to have so much room for tables.
Then a great time with family, you are so lucky to have them, as you say 'making memories' that is what life should be all about.
Have a good rest when it is all finished and then enjoy the new windows.
    Hugs, Neet 1 xx

  5. Morning Anne, I hope the windows are all finished before long and you can get back to normal. I'm sure you'll notice the difference once winter comes. So glad the crafternoon tea went well. It's a great idea and I like the coasters and box to go with the card. Have a good week. Sarah #8

  6. You have been so busy Anne and I can understand why the mixture of heat and stressing about early morning workmen arriving can upset your sleep pattern. Love that little cubbie hole & door.
Beautiful makes at the Craftathon, Thank you for sharing and Happy WOYWW

  7. Crafternoon Tea looks as wonderful as usual, great pics and how lovely if your friend to stand in whilst you work out where to put anything within 6 feet of the windows! It will be worth it when they’re done, I bet you’ll notice a difference immediately, if only sound wise. The window/wall arrangement made me chuckle. Am so super impressed that the tiny space created by the party wall isn’t treated as a dumping ground...it would be chock a block if it was ours!

  8. How exciting to have a Crafternoon tea (love that title). The windows look great ... but feel the pain of the upheaval, especially having to be ready early in the morning. Hope the lounge one goes OK. Thanks for sharing. Hope you have a good day - Hazel, WOYWW #15 x

  9. Having any sort of job done in the house puts everything out of order, I find! I was so glad when our bathrooms were finished. Your windows look great - the funny little access room is weird, especially having the little window in it! I'm glad the crafterthon afternoon happened, well done your friend for hosting it :-D

  13. The worst thing about having work done in the house is how everything that should be in that room needs to migrate somewhere else - we are having the bathroom done in a couple of weeks and I'm dreading it!! But it's about 30 years old and got some water damage last year so needs to be done. Did you do the crafternoon as a charity event? I have been considering it but just had no time lately. Happy Wednesday, Cindy #20
