WOYWW 263

Not sure if there is going to be a WOYWW this week ? Sadly Julia- our hostess and founder of this weekly event was poorly last - I'm not sure how she is at the moment but I do hope Julia you are a lot, lot better.

Since last week I have been busy as ever and the week has just flown by again. had a delish BBQ( to celebrate Father's Day) at our youngest son's home on Saturday and amazingly the weather held. We set off and it was very sunny - by time we arrived -a ten min walk the sky was black!!! Looked very stormy but it held off. On Sunday they came here to see DH as it was Father's Day. They went out together for the day as it was difficult for our D.I.L. - her first Father's Day since her dear dad died and it was not that long ago. We will celebrate with our eldest son and family soon. He had to work on Sunday so missed Father's Day. He started at 8a.m. and was still working at 6pm that evening!!!
Yesterday we had Phoebe and after collecting her from Nursery at 11.40 we went out for lunch. I did some shopping while DH took her to the park and then we went to see my Auntie. Today I've been catching up with chores and finishing off some cards.

Tomorrow I have to see the physio re my knee and then I have a date with the hairdresser :-)
On Thursday I get the results of the MRI scan of my knee. It has been a lot better since the steroid injection so it will be interesting to see what they say.

Anyway I have digressed really from the purpose of this post :-) - my desk!!!

Well the dining table really. It's all a lot tidier than last week. I finished some of the projects I've been working on and then tidied up so this is how it is at the moment .

First of all you can see part of a screen divider card ( thank you to Linda Parker for tutorial) a card for my grandson, a box that matches the card ( thanks to Elaine at papercraft button for her tutorial) and a concertina card ( tutorial from Julie Kettlewell) and box for the concertina card ( thanks to Amanda Bates for link)

Better view of cards

A card for my grandson

Another view of the table with some of the preparation for my next card class.

My desk by the sofa :-) with the crochet squares!!! I am busy sewing ends in!!!!

Hope that you've enjoyed looking. I will pop by and visit some of you tomorrow. X

  10. What a lovely and interesting post, Anne. You have been having fun with the family, and I love the "boy" card you made for your grandson! the screen cards are just gorgeous and so unusual. Sorry to hear about your DIL's dad - I was feeling exactly the same on Sunday - we don't celebrate Father's Day as it's a late arrival on the calendar, but it was Dad's birthday - the first one he was not around for - he would have been 91. I shed a tear or two during the Cathedral service and felt so close to him!

Thank you for such a nice comment on my blog, and for all your lovely remarks about the different bits of my blog that you've visited recently. We are enjoying our holiday but since arriving in the Cotswolds my energy has completely departed and I'm struggling each day, and also not sleeping well which doesn't help. I could have done with a week's total rest after my hubby's retirement before we came away but it wasn't to be if we were going to make it to school. Yes, posh school all right! It's a lot posher now than when I was there, I think! The girls are so fortunate to be provided with such superb opportunities and I am still reeling from the standard of the art...

I get very cross indeed with teachers who crush young children with negative comments - it can totally blight your life. The best teachers encourage and bring out the best in ALL the students, and show them that with hard work, application and the right attitude, anyone can achieve what they set their mind to. I have a friend who started a choir for ladies who "couldn't sing" - most of whom were told this at an early age - and they ended up doing concerts here and in France, and they were very good indeed, and had a great deal of fun! She had a lot of work to do, undoing all the negativity that had grown from that seed years ago.

    Happy WIOYWW,

  16. Thanks for your return visit, Anne, and I'm so glad that you were able to turn round a negative experience and make it something positive for your own pupils.

I am feeling a bit better today and was able to enjoy our lovely day out, but slept in the car both ways. We are going home tomorrow.

I wonder if you have had the news about your MRI yet? I do hope the news is good, and if they do find something, that they are able to do something about it. Try not to worry! You are in good hands.

  18. Anne, you have such amazing talent and your cards are brilliant, loving the long ones, they truly look fantastic from here and that treat box wow. I agree with the teachers crushing the children's enthusiasm, this happened with my daughter because she is ADHD and has Aspergers Syndrome, it has really marred her, we are still trying to turn it around and she is 19. Good for you.

    Happy Belated WOYWW

  19. Hello Anne. What beautiful cards - you are so skilled in the way you make so many of them. They are lovely. Well done.
Thanks for visiting. You ask how I do it all. Well, I don't do a great deal of housework etc., and if John needs to sit and watch a film I sit with him and knit or sew. I don't like to abandon him all the while, so we try to organise our days around his needs. As for the garden - I have to do that really early morning at this time of year - otherwise it is just too hot for me. I don't do sun and heat - being a redhead...
Take care, and I trust your test results are soon back and positive.
