WOYWW 219

Hi there fellow WOYWWers I'm back. Missed last week as I went to spend a few days with mum. My sister was away for the week and mum had hospital appointments and couldn't really be left alone for a week. Missed you all!!
Mum seemed better than last time but she is still not right. Still having the dizzy turns. She was back at the hospital today and they are no nearer finding out what is wrong. It would also seem that the left hand doesn't know what the right is doing. Some confusion over treatment etc. Mum getting quite distressed about it. We did take her out and about though and that cheered her. She took us for dinner on Saturday evening her she is - didn't want her photo taken but I think she looks lovely and well here.
Not the best quality photograph. At the back where the lights are is a water wheel . It is behind glass and made a very effective focal point. The venue was Hornbury Mill. Had superb meal. Thanks mum.

Anyway onto my desk ( sorry Julia I digressed) .

It's more or less as I left it last week. To the left is a mini book I have been trying to make. It is supposed to be like one that Voodoo Vixen  sent to Annie . It's for friends who should have celebrated their Ruby Wedding TWICE ( they married here first and then in Denmark)  this year. Sadly all celebrations have been delayed as my friend was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer and is undergoing treatment. I have sent cards and small presents but now want to give them something to keep and some money to spend when they go away for a couple of nights after her operation (hopefully)
Book has not gone quite right and am wondering if I should start again. ;-(

The yarn to the left was dumped there by me when we got back on Sunday evening. Another shot of the book.

Had instructions for this card keeper box from the lovely Julie Kettlewell some time ago. Was going to do a workshop but it was cancelled. Decided to get it made and have it on show at Open Evening at the Community Centre in September to promote my card making workshops that are planned.

Another shot of the mini book. Still work to do on it!!!

Well that's all for now methinks. If you would like to join in the fun of WOYWW go and visit  Julia's lovely blog and find out more
See you soon Anne x

  4. I'm glad you took the photo of your mum, she looks so pretty in it. And fingers crossed for your friend too. But Anne, take care of yourself at this emotional time. I went through the mill like you a couple of years ago and remember, you need TLC too.

  5. Hi Anne, lovely photo of your Mum, hope they get her sorted soon, nothing worse than the dithering about which stresses everyone out.
I was going to offer assistance, but I see from the second photo that you have worked out the destructions quite nicely already and your little book is coming along great and I am sure your friend will appreciate the gift especially as she is unwell at the moment. Annette #9

  8. Seems a nationwide problem with caring (or lack of) for the elderly. Was just reading another desker in the South with problems, I have blogged of my own with my Mum too here in North West, wonder if there are ANY parts of the UK with good care available for the elderly? Your Mum does look well though.

Well done with the mini book, far too complex for me anything like that.

  18. Hi Anne,

What a lovely photo of your mum. I hope they are able to give you a diagnosis soon. I'm glad you had a great evening out with her and it lifted her spirits.

The book looks like it's a pop up, somehow. Bless your friend and her husband. I hope her surgery is a success and treatment gets all the cancer. I absolutely hate the C word. I bet she enjoys the little surprises you send to her.

Thank you for visiting me already. I knew it probably wouldn't be until today that I managed time to get around to desks.

    Happy WOYWW
    Cheers,

I am sorry that you are having such a tough time with her diagnosis and treatment - not what she wants at her age, so I hope it soon gets sorted. Thank you for your visit this week and I hope next week brings better news. xx Maggie #116

  20. I'm so sorry to hear about your friend, and hope she gets good treatment. Also about your mum (what a sweet picture of her!) - I really hope they get to the bottom of what is causing her very troubling symptoms. Your mini book is gorgeous, and your whole desk looks busy and organised!

Thank you for your lovely comment. Sorry to be so long replying but I've been having awful problems getting Blogger to play ball and let me comment on quite a few blogs. I am now using google Chrome and it seems to be working better so here's hoping this goes through OK! Glad you like my new room. I can't wait for them to finish the final touches so I can get my stuff in there! As for the colitis, they say that diet plays very little part in its management. He has put me on medication and despite him saying I wouldn't notice any difference for 2-4 weeks, after 3 days I am symptom free! I can hardly believe it... Long may it last!

    Happy belated WOYWW,
