Hospitals and a nice surprise

A week ago my mum blacked out while she was shopping. She fell straight back banging her head hard on the pavement. Luckily my brother and his wife were there ( they had gone to visit for the weekend - it didn't go quite as planned) She was taken to hospital by ambulance. She had recently been diagnosed with a heart problem so at first my brother thought she'd had a heart attack or stroke. This happened on Sat before last. On Wed last week my brother decided to go back down and I went with him. ( My sister lives down there near mum so my brother had come home on holiday Monday )
Mum was quite cheerful though still having dizzy spells and having to have a nurse with her when she went to bathroom etc. It was strange seeing her with a frame etc, she has been so independent. She is making progress though and the physios were seeing her again today and she may be able to go home tomorrow. They need to see how she is on stairs as she will stay with my sister for a while and will have to manage the stairs there. Unfortunately it is still not clear what caused the blackout and Mum has to go back for a 24hr E.C.G.
Tomorrow will be hard for her as it is the 7th anniversary of my Dad dying and it was at the same hospital.

I also had to go to the hospital last week for a pre op visit. This week I have to take my Aunt for results and to find out what they plan to do re her problems. Then I have to have a small op. Hopefully only in for the day but need to have a general anaesthetic - so am spending a lot of time in hospitals :-)

Anyway onto other things. We have had a few lovely days weather wise which has seen DH outside re felting the shed roof. I don't think he could make a living doing it :-) does a great job but taken ages :-)

I've been baking - making small rich fruit cakes for a Fair - I had ingredients to use up before I needed to make anymore cakes like this.

Have been doing a little crafting as well. Very soothing - can't show everything at the moment until they've been sent.
But here's one I made for my sister and B.I.L. for their anniversary, This was inspired by one similar and I am sorry I can't remember where I saw it. here's my version

What else? Oh yes My Surprise -on my return from my overnight visit to mum's I returned to find that my gift from the lovely Taci had arrived. I won Taci's Bloganniversary give away - how brilliant was that.
Here are the lovely things that were waiting for me.

Thank you so much Taci and I hope you got my email. It was so lovely to find this waiting for me on my return. Blogland and Bloggers is/are wonderful.

Finally as I was washing up from baking I just thought how lucky I was to have this view as I am at the sink - I know it's not as spectacular as views some of you enjoy but I feel happy looking at the trees and how they mark the seasons.

Well  that's it for now hope you all are having lovely sunshine and have had some nice surprises. x

  6. A friend just drove with me over 100 miles through a lot of traffic so that I could visit with my MIL who is at a skilled nursing facility. If her strength increases she will be able to go back to her assisted living facility. I am grateful we had a good visit and can so appreciate the stress you are feeling in your multiple hospital visits, Anne. My oldest sister and I may be driving to southern CA to visit our other sister before I head back to OR next week. I LOVE your view from your kitchen window as well as the window itself, and am so glad you received Taci's lovely gift! I am asking God to bless you and yours.
    xx. Gracie

  7. So sorry to hear about your Mum, was she at Musgrove? My Gran seems to be in and out of there a lot for tests etc. I hope that all is sorted and that they get to the root of the problem. Has Auntie's diagnosis come through yet? Sorry I have been so useless at getting in touch.. life has got on top of me a bit recently. Praying for you and all your family. Caro xxx
