Sunny days and visiting

I was away last week from Tuesday until Friday afternoon. We went to see eldest son and family to celebrate DH's birthday. The weather up in Holmfirth was gorgeous this time. Had lots of fun with our grandsons and it was lovely seeing everyone and catching up. On Wednesday DH, Caro (our dear D.I.L.) went out for lunch and then had a lovely walk through the woods to collect GS's from school. On Thursday Caro and I went out to Horbury. I had heard of a shop there selling fabric ( in fact had sent for some) and wanted to have a look. Some lovely fabric and ribbons. I did buy a few bits- well it would have been rude not to :-) Afterwards Caro and I found a lovely cafe and had some refreshments!!!
Later that evening Caro and I went to Village Hall to watch a play. It was called Out of Focus and was very funny - laughed so much.
On Friday DH and I took boys to school - again through the woods - lovely. After morning coffee we st off home. Stopped en route for lunch. We took the scenic route home through Peak district - round Glossop, Buxton and Ashbourne then Lichfield. Scenery was stunning.
Stopped here for lunch

must admit it was a little windy and cold up there. However we were given a warm welcome and had a lovely lunch. The Inn - well parts of it dated back to 17th Century.

On Saturday I went to visit my friend who has ovarian cancer. She was looking better and feeling a bit stronger. Has been eating a bit more although she'd had second round of chemo on Friday so was feeling nauseous. Understandable of course. She said that she had found the Prayer Shawl very useful as well as comforting.
Today has been lovely weather wise. I have had a bit of a break and was reading for a while. Then worked on my swaps for the SU Regional Training Event.  Have only managed 43. Would have been 50 but kept messing up.

Hoping to see younger son and family tomorrow. DS did come with me to see my friend as both my sons call her their 2nd mum as she used to look after them for me after school for many years.

On Tuesday I have to take my Auntie to hospital and  then hope to make it to Sugar Craft. Collect Auntie from hospital on Wed. Thursday knitting group. Friday hope to get hair cut and finish my swaps - just a bit left to do.

It has been lovely having some sunshine and watching leaves unfurl and blossom appear.

Just a few bits of colour that have started to appear at last in our front garden. DH also set up new water feature and it was very soothing listening to the water as I enjoyed a tea break outside this p.m. Have quite a lot I want to do in the garden and need to rethink area where water feature is now.
Hope you all had a good week and have enjoyed the sunny weather. Anne x

The lovely at Taci at Tacistudio is celebrating her Bloganniversary with a give away. It is open to al why not pop along and join in. Taci makes some beautiful things. x

  4. Super photos Anne, surely your camera is just fine. Mine is quite old (Dec 2003) but bought for its super macro feature. It is a Sony Cybershot. I had to have it replaced after nearly a year (end of 2004) as it decided to change programmes on its own. Replacement did the same after the same amount of time but then settled and is has been fine for years since.
Glad to hear of your good times with family. BJ

  5. Hi Anne, lovely post and fab photos. We used to visit Holmfirth fairly often when we lived in the High Peak area. The towns you mention are old haunts of ours too. Love your blossoming magnolias - gorgeous. Elizabeth xx
